Hola! I'm Angela ๐Ÿ‘‹

If you're planning your Teotihuacan visit & wondering about opening hours and when does Teotihuacan open...

Here's the hours, and a few tips about the BEST time to visit and why.

(because I'm literally at the pyramids almost every day, so I know the best times to visit and some helpful tips)

BUT... what most people don't know:

The Best Time to Visit Teotihuacan

8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Perfect! Cool temperatures, fewer crowds, best lighting for photos. And in the rainy season it's usually not raining until later.

10:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Getting busy and hot. The big tour buses start arriving.

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Crowded and scorching hot. Not ideal unless you love sweating! In the rainy season this is when it starts raining.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: You'll feel rushed because they close soon.

I've been to Teotihuacan at every hour. Early morning is absolutely the best time.

A Few Helpful Tips When Visiting Teotihuacan

There's no shade at the pyramids. And because of Mexico City's altitude... the sun is unforgiving (you'll get burnt easier, UV is very strong, and you can get sun blisters very quickly).

So get there early! Ideally as soon as they open.

Plus, all the big tour buses arrive around 10-11 AM, so if you get there early, you'll have the pyramids almost to yourself for some great pictures and Instagram shots.

Also, there's a few different "seasons" to keep in mind when visiting Teotihuacan:

Rainy season (June-September): They stay open unless there's severe weather, but bring an umbrella!

Holidays: Expect bigger crowds, especially during Mexican holidays and school breaks.

Maintenance days: Very rarely, specific areas might be closed for archaeological work, but the main site stays open.

Want to Visit Teotihuacan?

Here's the thing...

You can show up at 8 AM and walk around these incredible 2,000-year-old pyramids by youreslf...

But without knowing the stories, ancient culture, and mysteries... you're basically just looking at big piles of rocks.

And even if you use ChatGPT or Google for information... a lot of what you'll get is the basics (and sometimes the information is incorrect). Because it doesn't have access to the most up-to-date archeological findings, newest information, or certain historical information that's buried in books.

But on one of my early morning tours that start at 7 AM - we beat the crowds, avoid the heat...

And I share all the fascinating secrets you can't find online... and bring the pyramids to LIFE by making the tour FUN!

Plus, I know all the best photo spots and can take you to amazing local restaurants afterward.
